Fitzroy Chapel – Pearsons Square, London

Client: Sir Robert McAlpine
Principal Contractor: PAYE Stonework & Restoration Limited

Fitzrovia Chapel is a magnificent Grade II* listed building that was originally housed within The Middlesex Hospital It now sits in the centre of the new development of Fitzroy Place.

The building had been unused for a number of years which lead to deterioration of the mosaic and marbled internal walls, floors and ceilings. PAYE carried out extensive research and investigation into sourcing replacement materials to help in the conservation repair of damaged masonry.

Cleaning and stabilisation of loose mosaic was carried out to retain as much of the original material as possible along with selective discrete replacement where necessary.

The external brick facades where also cleaned and repaired using matching hand made plain and moulded bricks.
